Back pressure valves are fitted at the outlet of refrigerating chamber having multiple refrigerating room with different temperature. It is a non return valve fitted at the outlet of evaporator to facilitate slow cooling in an evaporator chamber(like veg room in ship).

It is installed in a chamber whose temperature is to be kept positive. Back pressure valve remains shut until the refrigerant gains high degree of superheat thus preventing frosting by initiating slow cooling.
